Vitamin E

Antioxidant care, thoughtfully added.
The vitamin E we use is natural d-alpha tocopherol derived from non-GMO soybean oil. It is an undiluted, fat-soluble antioxidant that we add in small, purposeful amounts for its skin-conditioning qualities and its ability to help protect the oils in our formulas from oxidation.
The Science
Vitamin E is a lipid-soluble antioxidant. Antioxidants help neutralize unstable molecules called free radicals, which can contribute to oxidative stress.
Within an oil-based formula, vitamin E also helps slow the oxidation of delicate oils and fats. This can help delay changes such as rancidity, unwanted odors, and deterioration in product quality.
In skincare, vitamin E functions as both an antioxidant and a skin-conditioning ingredient. It helps:
- Condition and soften dry-feeling skin
- Support a smooth, supple skin surface
- Complement the emollient oils and butters in a formula
- Protect oils and fats from premature oxidation
- Maintain the quality of an oil-based product
Why We Use It
We add vitamin E in small, purposeful amounts to complement our nourishing oils, butters, and tallow. It contributes skin-conditioning benefits while also helping protect the quality and freshness of the oils in our formulas.
On the Skin
Vitamin E helps condition the skin, leaving dry areas feeling softer, smoother, and comfortably nourished. Its antioxidant properties also complement the protective and moisturizing qualities of the other oils and butters in the formula.
