Rosehip Seed Oil

Lightweight nourishment for soft, supple-looking skin.

The rosehip seed oil we use is 100% pure, unrefined oil cold-pressed from the seeds found inside rosehips—the fruit that develops on rose plants after flowering.

Cold pressing helps preserve the oil’s natural fatty-acid profile, warm amber color, and lightweight texture without the extensive processing used to create refined oils.

The Science

Rosehip seed oil contains a high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Its primary fatty acids generally include:

  • Linoleic acid — an essential omega-6 fatty acid that helps condition and support the skin’s surface
  • Alpha-linolenic acid — an essential omega-3 fatty acid that contributes lightweight emollience
  • Oleic acid — a monounsaturated fatty acid that adds softness and spreadability
  • Smaller amounts of palmitic and stearic acids, which add body and conditioning

Cold-pressed rosehip seed oil may also contain naturally occurring tocopherols, carotenoids, and other minor antioxidant compounds. The precise composition varies with the rose species, growing conditions, and processing method.

In skincare, rosehip seed oil helps:

  • Condition dry or dull-feeling skin
  • Support a soft, smooth skin surface
  • Add lightweight nourishment without excessive heaviness
  • Improve the spreadability of richer facial formulations
  • Complement protective tallow and other emollient oils

Why We Use It

We use rosehip seed oil in our Whipped Tallow Facial Cream to balance the richness of tallow with a lighter botanical oil. Its essential-fatty-acid profile adds gentle conditioning and helps the cream spread smoothly across the skin.

On the Skin

Rosehip seed oil helps skin feel softer, smoother, and comfortably nourished. Its lightweight texture conditions without overwhelming the skin, leaving it feeling supple and cared for.
